How to connect your storage or backup

This guide shows you, step by step, how to connect a free app and copy files into your cloud storage or backup. About 5 minutes, no technical skills needed.

The quickest way: in your client area, open your storage and click Download connection file, then double-click it. Cyberduck opens already set up - you can skip straight to Step 4. The steps below show the manual way if you prefer.

What you will need

  • Your connection details - we will get these from your client area in Step 1.
  • The files or folders you want to store or back up.
  • About 5 minutes.
  1. Find your connection details

Log in to your client area, open your storage (or backup) service, and click "Show connection details". You will copy four things: your Server / Endpoint, Bucket name, Access key, and Secret key.

  2. Get the free app

Download Cyberduck - free for Windows and Mac, and works by simple drag-and-drop.

    Download Cyberduck

Want automatic backups instead? Most backup programs that support "S3" work with your space too - just enter the same details from Step 1 where the program asks for an S3 connection.
  3. Connect it

Open Cyberduck, click Open Connection, and choose Amazon S3 at the top. Then fill in:

    • Server: your Server / Endpoint from Step 1.
    • Access Key ID: your Access key.
    • Secret Access Key: your Secret key.

Click Connect, then double-click your Bucket name to open it.

  4. Copy your files in

Drag the files or folders you want to keep into the Cyberduck window to upload them. To get something back later, just drag it out onto your computer. That is all there is to it.

Keep your Secret key private - it is like a password for your storage. Do not share it.
Done! Your files are stored safely and privately, encrypted at rest. You can add or retrieve files anytime by reconnecting.
