Connect object storage or backup
Use the connection details from your storage service with an S3-compatible application.
Before you start
You need an active storage service and an application that supports its S3-compatible connection. Keep access keys private. Your billing password is not a storage access key.
1. Find the connection details
Sign in to the client portal and open the storage or backup service. Use the connection details supplied there: endpoint, region where required, bucket name, access key and secret key. If a connection-file download is available, it can help configure a supported client.
2. Configure your application
Select the application’s Amazon S3 or compatible-storage connection type and enter the exact details for your service. Use an encrypted HTTPS connection. Check the bucket and account before uploading files.
3. Test upload and retrieval
Upload a small non-sensitive test file, retrieve it and check the result. If the application reports a permission, region or signature error, confirm the settings and contact support. Never include the secret key in a screenshot.
4. Configure backup jobs separately
A backup storage plan is a destination; it does not create a backup schedule by itself. Configure the backup application’s source, schedule, retention and encryption settings. Keep a record of any recovery passwords and test restoration periodically.
